Some Tuesday Humor

While speaking with my colleague Ed Gravely this morning, I told him about an anecdote I once heard. A friend from a Deep South state once told me that as late as the 1990s the SBC churches in his home state had more names on their respective membership roles than his state had citizens. Ed responded with a humorous quip he often shares with his students: “One reason you can know that infant baptism cannot be right is that, if it were, Southern Baptists would have adopted it a long time ago–what a great strategy for adding more names to your church’s role.” Indeed.

Speaking of colleagues, I have an additional treat for you. The picture below will be appearing on a powerpoint slide in my Church History II classes this week. The reader who emails me the best caption for this picture will be publicly recognized at BtT and hailed as a comedic genius.
